16.7. What is the role of Kafka AdminClient API?

Answer: Kafka AdminClient is a client API for administrative operations such as creating and deleting topics, describing topics, checking partition metadata, managing configurations, and handling certain reassignment or consumer-group operations. It is different from a producer or consumer because its job is cluster management rather than normal data processing. In automation, AdminClient can be used to create topics during deployment or inspect cluster state programmatically. I would protect such capabilities carefully because administrative permissions are much more powerful than application read/write permissions. In production, topic lifecycle is often managed through infrastructure-as-code or controlled platform automation so that administrative changes are auditable and repeatable.
